“The new museum and its limits in conserving cultural heritage”

The modern museum has been undergoing significant changes since the integration of advanced technologies into its displays. These changes result not only in physical modifications but in new approaches of exhibition curators to the contents and to ways of keeping the role of the museum as an educational and cultural agent.  A major objective of the modern museum is to present and interpret artifacts and collections of civilizations and societies. Novel devices have become a professional challenge which requires their application, especially in historical and archaeological exhibitions. Several examples will be discussed showing how museums combine novel technologies with the presentation of cultural heritage.
